Good for the Country: Liberals Act On Their Anger, Conservatives Act On Their Happiness

The results of a recent survey by the Pew Research Center, that conservatives are happier than Liberals shouldn’t be surprising. Liberals know they are unhappy and perhaps don’t understand why, and conservatives know they are happy and we can pretty much say just why. Meanwhile, for those who are not into politics and just want a great time, they can check out sites such as 해외배팅.

Everyone dislikes liberal interference, but there is way too much generosity when it comes to the analysis of liberalism. Its too painful, or as the liberals might say, offensive. Liberal anger and anxiety make up the chief motivating force in their politics. To keep things stable in liberty is the objective of conservatives.

Let me reduce it all for you to a few concepts.

Simply put, politics is a reflection of world view. All of what we see in the world and react to is a reflection of how we see symbols as friend or foe. Simple. We know this. All we needed was a little reminder.

Icons some of us cherish as traditional and reassuring can and do irk others as obnoxious. Or offensive. Ah, but why?

Because they are mnemonics – symbols – for each of us. Mnemonics are things that trigger memories of something. Association plays a big role, too. For each of us, these symbols remind us of past joy or past pain. Sometimes they have no meaning. With me so far?

It all adds up to why some of us are self-confident, happy, and able to work without a net, while others are angry and forever wounded.

Bashing? Hardly, because most of the differences between the angry and the contented are a perceptual problem, more specifically an inner-experience based problem and not a reality-based problem, not at all. Liberals employ a reality distortion device to stave off anxiety they feel in icons they view as foe. No such anxiety exists for those of us who view societal icons as friend.

The liberal tension or effort is to reduce anxiety these symbols bring out; their effort is to remove their power over the person by political means rather than to remove their power over the person by personal means. Translation: time on the couch in a working-through process.

This explains why liberals interfere with matters that don’t seem to directly concern them, such as removing a cross from a county symbol or imposing education policies on schools where they have no child in school. They are simply irked by the icon which symbolizes for them an old wound that has nothing to do with social justice or much of anything else.

Bashing? More a matter of national survival, when we consider that accommodating such unrelated, pre-adolescent and non-political anger would mean surrender of the nation all for nothing.

If the proof of the pudding is in the eating, then digest this: Think of all of the adversities you suffered as a youth: then think of how you managed them. Did you overcome them or did you dwell on them?

Well, we all dwell on some of them, but those of us who continue to dwell on them grow up to become leftist and those of us who overcome them grow up to work without a net. You might say that liberals never grew up at all and conservatives did. Or put another way, angry people of old wounds choose leftism while more able persons choose conservatism. (Which could explain the double-standard: the angry think of conservatives as adults to be held to a standard and think of themselves still as kids who get away with everything!)
People who overcome their adversities in life, and in fact throughout life, tend to expect it in others, because we know it can be done. It is not an injustice to let people fend for themselves, it is the ultimate respect for their dignity. People who cannot overcome the very same adversities we all suffer tend to try and change out their pain externally, in every venue but where it should be changed. This is the blame others scenario, or the victim mentality, that forever-wounded life.

Why do the angry cheat in stealing archival documents, in lying under oath, in hating capitalism and family, with general underhanded tactics and erasure of history? Because their old wounds still hurt, and their sense of justice is more of trying to soothe an anxiety by legally eliminating social symbols which irk them than one of effecting any positive change. This is why liberals build nothing.

This is where it gets interesting.

The misreads of our society and unending insistence in eroding our society – the indictment that liberals must be out of touch with reality – are based on these old wounds and the anxiety they try to stave off; distortions of reality are erected to avert that anxiety they sense coming again, old, longer-standing anxiety which has little to do with contemporary politics really. This is why the never get better.

You know these simply as defense-mechanisms. Stay with me.

We all have them – we all have excess baggage – but the difference between liberals and conservatives, the difference between the contented and the unhappy, is merely a matter of degree, or how much baggage one is carrying into politics. This is how our values are formed in relation to politics: those of us who are happy know that we preserve our society by rules of fair play and so forth, but when soothing anxiety is the prime pain-avoidance motive over all others, including personal integrity, values go out the window as the anxiety-avoidance becomes the number one motivation for everything.

Well, there you have it, friends.

How we handle liberals is this: now that we understand better the motive of destroying anxiety instead of building a nation, we come to realize that cooperation with people operating on distortions of reality is to surrender the nation all for nothing. You simply can’t think straight when you’re anxious.

Better let the adults handle it, the ones of whom high standards are expected, or so the liberals say in their double standard, remember?

Our battle is still the same as it was in the formation of the nation: merely to keep things stable, to keep things real, opposing destructive change.

And that’s good for the country.

Common Sense Reforms We Will Never See

How many of us over the years have talked with co-workers, families and friends and solved the issues that vex our existence? And not truly solve the problems, but saying things likewhat the government ought to do. And If I were President, as we discussed all the different ways we could fix our nation or the world problems? In fact, we see it every day with grass roots level writers tossing their opinions out in cyber space for all to mull over.

But sitting here on a Friday afternoon, I have paid most of my bills for the month, and as Spring approaches I wonder where the cash will come from to pay for all the grandiose schemes I have for maintaining my home, and have enough left over to maybe go somewhere on vacation. And I almost sigh with expectation that this year I can get some things done, and I open my property tax bill and sink back down into normal life where I will have to cut some corners again. It never seemed this hard years back when jobs were abundant and property was at almost an affordable level. But the past few years with rising costs all around me, I find my annual raises not keeping up like they used to.

And when I sit down and sip my imported coffee while surfing the web for news I can trust, I once again see America tossing cash around like a gold miner who just hit the big nugget to every cause and nation that asks for it. Billions upon billions of dollars within and without of this nation are being handed out like flyers at a Walmart opening. I started to dig for numbers and information that boggled my mind, and I took out my Windows XP calculator and did the math. Lets say it would cost 250 trillion dollars to provide a 250 thousand dollar home to one third of America. Using one third because I figure most homes have a kid or two. Just in Medicaid alone is 300 billion annually between federal and state. In 10 years of using that money we could have close to a tenth of that paid off, and STILL afford good medical insurance on an individual basis. With state and federal welfare costs, whether the people qualify or not, we see almost another 50 billion dollars annually, And STILL afford good medical insurance on an individual basis.

We see Social Security flying away from us as politicians play the shell game with our cash using it to bolster other programs never meant to be paid for with that money. An average 30 cent return for every dollar we spend on the program is a travesty at best.

8 billion a year goes for re-education of many of those recipients, who never seem to get out of poverty. In fact, statistics show that many of those who used up their welfare money suddenly became able bodied workers after welfare reform went into place. But it does not stop here folks, what about the billions annually in foreign aid? What about unpaid loans to other countries that tend to burn our flags after spending the cash we sent to keep them from starving? The condoms we sent to stem AIDS all over Africa have been used for everything else except their original use. The money we send to the Palestinians only feeds their children so they can grow up to be full blown killers with a hatred for us.

What about the millions and millions of money spent on the U.N., where they also in turn bad mouth us as they wag the dog to keep the media off of their oil stealing backs? The million spent for the endowment of the arts, so we can watch people paint pictures of nude children and blasphemous images offensive to our religions? What about the billions spent on charities, and the food sent worldwide that we could use to feed our own people?

If we took all these programs and ended them, in ten years we would have saved more than enough to buy each and every American a home of their own. A home they could sell, a home they could give to their children, a home they could have pride in owning. We could have enough cash left after that to provide better medical programs that are NOT run by the government. In fact, with what America donates globally on an annual basis, we could probably float a social system for health for those who did not work.

Then we could afford to buy Made in America goods, we could have cash left over to retire on, we could do the unthinkable here folks. We could all go to Disneyland every summer!

I know, this sounds a lot like Liberal social mumbo jumbo, but the naked truth here is that these are dollars already being thrown out that bring little if anything back to us as tax payers. They are already gone and continually going, so I figure why not keep the money in America? Nothing else is staying here except illegal immigrants, because our jobs and industry are sure not. I figure if I have to sit and watch America donate itself to foreign nations piece by piece, I may as well sit on my own porch and watch it go. I mean, if we absolutely HAVE to waste trillions in tax dollars, why shouldn’t we as Americans get to enjoy the excess? After all its OUR money, isn’t it?

This way, if someone wants to sell their home and move into a ghetto, let them at it. If they want to sell their home and move away, cool beans. Someone dies, the house goes to the new kid on the block, and I do mean legal kid, not the immigrants or a flop house for cheap imported corporate labor. These are just some of the dollars listed here, there are still many more being thrown to waste.

We end all of this giving and begin to feed ourselves, and build for ourselves, and plan for OUR future. If the Hollywood buffoons desire to fly off to Africa and donate billions from their own pockets, have at it! Just leave my dollar in the piggy bank. Some politician wants to promise a country somewhere they will give millions, then we either get a property lien or the politicians can pay for it themselves. By spending OUR money here, we could reduce stress related illnesses, heart attacks, the need for bankruptcy, then maybe after 50 years or so we may have our own people fed and clothed, and medicated without fear of living on the streets, and our debts paid.

I am no socialist, but if the money has to be wasted it should at least be wasted on those who earned it.

Politics, Happiness and Genetics

POLITICS, HAPPINESS AND GENETICS

The fact that political stance is highly hereditary ties the two reports below together:

Even the Left-leaning Pew Research Center is still finding that conservatives are happier than Leftists. Such results are hardly surprising. Leftist politics are the politics of grievance, complaint and whining. But I also liked the comment about Democrats by Statguy: “Anyone who consistently looks to the government for help is in for a lot of disappointment and unhappiness”.

Depression: Those pesky genes at work yet again: “In a world first, researchers from NSW have discovered the gene responsible for depression. After 25 years’ research, scientists have found that people who carry a particular gene are more likely to suffer depression regardless of their life experiences. The medical breakthrough will have major ramifications for diagnosis and treatment of the disease which affects one in four Australians. The study, to be published in the prestigious British Journal of Psychiatry this week, shows that people who carry a short serotonin transporter gene are predisposed to depression. Conversely, those who carry a long version of the serotonin transporter gene would be more resilient to whatever life throws at them. Around 43per cent of the population is believed to carry the short version of the gene”.

So we should perhaps feel sorry for Leftists. They are born miserable. The trouble is that they want to take all the rest of us down with them too. They hate other people being happy. That is why their policies are good at tearing down the rich but hopeless at lifting up the poor. The results of their policies uncover what their real priorities are – hurting rather than helping. Stalin and his ilk were no accident.

Update:

There is another report on the genetics of depression here.

Well-deserved: “The sharp drop in the price of Google’s shares may portend a long-awaited pullback in the broader stock market, technical analysts said. Google closed on Nasdaq at $US362.62 ($488.11), down $US27.76 ($37.36) for the day, after earlier falling as low as $US338.51 ($455.56). Google’s 7.1 percent drop didn’t come out of the blue. The stock is down 23.7 percent since January 11, when it hit its lifetime high of $US475.11 ($639.50).”

I guess the media will try to ignore this but a manifesto against Islamofascism has just been signed by some notable campaigners – Salman Rushdie, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Bernard-Henri Levy etc. Excerpt: “After having overcome fascism, Nazism, and Stalinism, the world now faces a new totalitarian global threat: Islamism. We, writers, journalists, intellectuals, call for resistance to religious totalitarianism and for the promotion of freedom, equal opportunity and secular values for all. The recent events, which occurred after the publication of drawings of Muhammed in European newspapers, have revealed the necessity of the struggle for these universal values. This struggle will not be won by arms, but in the ideological field. It is not a clash of civilisations nor an antagonism of West and East that we are witnessing, but a global struggle that confronts democrats and theocrats..”

Leftists blame the victim: “There’s a certain consistent pattern regarding the worldwide Left’s assessment of culpability for Muslim terror. It is the fault of the murdered.. For a decade or more, it has been a given on the Left that Israel is to blame for terror committed against Israelis by Palestinian Muslims (Palestinian Christians don’t engage in suicide terror). What else are the Palestinians supposed to do? If they had Apache helicopters, the argument goes, they would use them. But they don’t, so they use the poor man’s nuclear weapon – suicide terror. The same argument is given to explain 9-11. Three thousand innocent Americans were incinerated by Islamic terrorists because America has been meddling in the Middle East so long. This was bound to happen. And, anyway, don’t we support Israel? And when Muslim terrorists blew up Madrid trains, killing 191 people and injuring 1,500 others, the Left in Spain and elsewhere blamed Spanish foreign policy. After all, the Spanish government had sent troops into Iraq. When largely Muslim rioters burned and looted for a month in France, who was blamed? France, of course – France doesn’t know how to assimilate immigrants. During the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles, black mobs murdered innocent Korean shopkeepers and burned sections of the city. The liberal response in America was virtually universal: We must understand the anger of these people.”

Abortions getting easier: “Women who are less than nine weeks pregnant can safely have medical abortions at home, according to the head of a government-backed pilot project. Abortion services for the 20,000 women who seek a chemically induced abortion every year could be transformed should the Department of Health’s official evaluation of the pilot confirm initial findings. But it is also likely to provoke controversy from anti-abortion campaigners who will claim that home abortions would make the procedure easier and therefore lead to more women having terminations. Shirley Butler, the project manager of one pilot which has tested the abortions with 172 women patients since 2004, told the Guardian: “We haven’t had any significant problems apart from one woman who had a slightly heavy bleed. In my opinion medical abortions outside of acute hospitals seem to be safe.””

Why foreign aid to Africa does not work: “Economic development in Africa will depend – as it has elsewhere and throughout the history of the modern world – on the success of private-sector entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs and African political reformers. It will not depend on the activities of patronizing, bureaucratic, unaccountable and poorly informed outsiders. Development everywhere is homegrown. As G-8 ministers and rock stars fussed about a few billion dollars here or there for African governments, the citizens of India and China (where foreign aid is a microscopic share of income) were busy increasing their own incomes by $715 billion in 2005.”

Leftist scam in Britain: “A 2 million pound bid for funds made to Walsall Council has been turned down as officials have never heard of the organisation and were staggered that its plea was for nearly twice as much cash as 53 others put together. The Anti Abuse Of Minorities group request was to help fund investigations into racial abuse and institutionalised racism. The application was nearly twice as much as the total 1.2 million pounds requested by 53 other groups across the borough. Councillor Zahid Ali, communities and partnership cabinet membership, said he had never heard of the group, which cannot be found on the internet. The application was one of the least researched he had ever seen he added. “It was the first time I had heard of them. We just don’t know much about them. It was their first application and many of the forms were incomplete. There was no way we could give this kind of money.” Efforts to contact AAOM were unsuccessful.”

Tim Blair has an interesting look back in time to when British cartoons about the Nazis were causing official palpitations similar to what we now see in response to the Mohammed cartoons.

Practically all policies advocated by the Left create poverty. Leftists get the government to waste vast slabs of the country’s labour-force on bureaucracy and paperwork and so load the burden of providing most useful goods and services onto fewer and fewer people. So fewer useful goods and services are produced to go around. That is no accident. The Left love the poor. The Left need the poor so that they can feel good by patronizing and “helping” them. So they do their best to create as many poor people as possible.

The Big Lie of the late 20th century was that Nazism was Rightist. It was in fact typical of the Leftism of its day. It was only to the Right of Stalin’s Communism. The very word “Nazi” is a German abbreviation for “National Socialist” (Nationalsozialistisch)

The Same Old Song And Dance

By Edward M. Daley

This past Monday, CBS, otherwise known as See? BS!, Al-Jazeera West, and the Corrupt Broadcasting System, proved once again that it is nothing but a shameless propaganda tool of the Democrat party, by releasing the results of a poll it rigged. uh. conducted recently showing that President Bush’s popularity rating has plummeted to an all-time low of 34 percent.

Of course, when one looks at the internals of the poll, one sees that, of the 1018 people who responded to it, only 28 percent were Republicans. 38 percent, however, were Democrats (big surprise there), and the remaining 34 percent were described as Independents.

Now, to begin with I have a problem with any political poll that doesn’t identify the ideological leanings of over a third of its participants. The word Independent doesn’t tell me anything about a person, other than he or she is not registered with either of the two main parties. For all I know, the vast majority of the “Independents” who took this poll are mind-numbed Communists. Unless it can be shown that this 34 percent is comprised of an equal number of left-wingers and right-wingers, I have to assume that it’s made up mostly of leftists, since the people conducting the poll are leftists, and they’ve already picked nearly a hundred more Democrats to poll than Republicans.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen gimpy cats at the vet’s office that had a better chance of not being fixed than this poll, that is, if an actual poll was even conducted in this case. After all, why should I believe that the these poll numbers are anything other than a figment of some CBS employee’s imagination? I mean, am I supposed to just ignore the fact that this company perpetrated one of the most outrageous journalistic frauds in American history against the subject of this very poll only weeks before the last election?

What makes the management of CBS think that anyone other than a bunch of Bush-bashing lunatics would be willing to take anything they say seriously anymore? Maybe if they did something every once in a while to show that they’re willing to give conservatives a little credit for the good things they do, I could begin to consider that perhaps they’re not all neo-socialist pinheads.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. They are clearly every bit as contemptuous of the right as they’ve always been, and this latest poll is just one more example of how incapable they are of being responsible news reporters. I don’t know what these folks think they’re going to gain by continuing to behave in such a blatantly biased manner, but if it’s their credibility they’re trying to resuscitate, I’m afraid that beating it with a stupid-stick isn’t going to bring it back from the dead.

Oh sure, there may still be some non-liberals in this country who actually think CBS can be trusted, but I am not one of them, and I’ll believe Bush’s approval numbers are at 34 percent when Dan Rather and Walter Cronkite admit they’re pompous, left-wing jackasses who never had any business calling themselves respectable newsmen.

And that’s the way it is, Thursday, March 2, 2006.

Sikhism

SIKHISM

I have always liked the Sikhs. Sikhs were one of the many groups in the very multi-ethnic area where I grew up. I remember in my early teens how a tall dignified brown man in a blue turban gave me a tract about Guru Nanak (founder of Sikhism). The name of the publisher of the tract so amused me that I remember it to this day, nearly 50 years later: The Gurpurb publishing company.

Although Sikhs are sometimes mistaken for Muslims because they wear turbans, Sikhism in fact started out as an Indian alternative to Islam and Sikhs fought the Muslims almost from the inception of Sikhism. There is a good interview here with a British Sikh leader who calls on Britain to stand firm against Islamic pressure.

Arrogant EU elitists: “The French President, Jacques Chirac, will urge European leaders to set the doomed European Union constitution aside and consider radical projects that can be pushed through under existing treaties. A list of more than a dozen such projects has been drawn up already, some at the heart of the EU constitutional treaty frozen since France and Holland rejected it in referendums last year, and from which Mr Chirac will choose a few to present at summits in March and June. Ideas salvaged from the constitution include the creation of an elected EU president, replacing the present system of a six-month rotating presidency. The French list includes asking the EU foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, to take on the effective role of EU foreign minister. Paris also said it would be possible to use existing treaties to form an EU diplomatic service. New EU embassies would replace overseas delegation offices now operated by the European Commission.. A French official called for European Union lessons for secondary school pupils in all 25 member states, based on a standardised teaching model covering EU values and history.”

Addiction Gene: “Genetics researchers have confirmed that people with a different form of a certain gene are more susceptible to drug and alcohol addiction. They hope the finding will help predict who might get hooked and what treatments will help those who do. Researchers led by Wolfgang Sadee, a scientist at the Ohio State University, have figured out how differences in one gene can make the brain more sensitive to alcohol, narcotics, or nicotine. The gene Sadee’s team looked at has long been known to code for a kind of brain protein called an opioid receptor, which acts like a switch, turning on pleasure and blocking pain when triggered by certain addictive drugs.”

Mexico still stupidly socialist: “The future for foreign manufacturing (maquiladoras) in Mexico is bleak. Tijuana, home to one half of the nation’s foreign owned plants, has enjoyed zero unemployment for the last five years. That trend has reversed. This month 17 Japanese manufacturers in TJ announced they are moving their operations to Asia. There is now growing unemployment in every sector of Tijuana’s economy. Vicente Fox deserves much of the responsibility for making Mexico less investor friendly by not advancing two of his campaign pledges: To overhaul a socialistic and antiquated set of labor laws and reducing bureaucratic red tape. His policies, in fact, have created more red tape and increased the costs of doing business in this country.”

Venezuela: Another destructive revolution: “Seven years after Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez first took office, an event commemorated earlier this month, Juan Francisco Rivas is still waiting for the ‘revolution.’ His 24-square-meter makeshift house, currently inhabited by nine people, sits at a 45-degree angle atop one of the city’s worst hillside slums, Petare. His roof is a single metal sheet. There is no hot water. Mr. Rivas voted for Mr. Chavez in 1998 but today, while showing his often-flooded living room, says, ‘Look at this place and tell me honestly that Chavez is for the poor.’ During the 1990s, Rivas worked as a carpenter and even had social security. Today he is grateful to get three days of work per week, all in the underground economy.”

Stateless in Somalia, and loving it : “Somalia is in the news again. Rival gangs are shooting each other, and why? The reason is always the same: the prospect that the weak-to-invisible transitional government in Mogadishu will become a real government with actual power. The media invariably describe this prospect as a ‘hope.’ But it’s a strange hope that is accompanied by violence and dread throughout the country. Somalia has done very well for itself in the 15 years since its government was eliminated. The future of peace and prosperity there depends in part on keeping one from forming.”

Wanted: Secretary General: “This week, The New York Times finally caught onto a story that U.N. experts and others in the press have been focused on for months – the world body’s upcoming selection of its next Secretary General. The current Secretary General, Kofi Annan, was first elected in 1996, and according to U.N. tradition may only serve two terms. It doesn’t help, of course, that on his watch corruption, nepotism and incompetence have become the organization’s defining traits. So what happens now?”

80,000+ now on “no-fly” lists: “The latest figures that I have seen are that at least 80,000 Americans are now on FBI and Homeland Security’s red-flagged ‘no fly’ lists with another 325,000 on yellow-flagged ‘watch lists’ (the latter being subject to body and luggage searches). Hundreds more names are added every week. The criteria for being put in these lists is secret, and there is no official procedure for getting off a list. Government propaganda for these lists implies that only ‘known terrorists’ and terror ‘suspects’ are on the lists, but the reality is far different.”

FDR believed in Stalin: “The great irony, unacknowledged by Russian historians even today, is that had it not been for the hundreds of thousands of Dodge and Studebaker trucks, the Red Army would never have reached Berlin before the Americans. Roosevelt refused to attach strings to aid. Nor, more surprisingly, did he intervene or protest when it was discovered that the Soviet Military Mission in the US was spying shamelessly and flying quantities of stolen documents from the Manhattan Project out of the country”. More on Roosevelt and Stalin here.

Rand Simberg has a good fisking of a particularly nutty bit of Leftist kookery.

Stalinism Still Lives Among American “Liberals”

STALINISM STILL LIVES AMONG AMERICAN “LIBERALS”

Stalin of course said that there was perfect freedom of speech in Russia – as long as people agreed with him

A friend of mine took his young daughter to visit the famous City Lights bookstore in San Francisco, explaining to her that the place is important because years ago it sold books no other store would – even, perhaps especially, books whose ideas many people found offensive. So, although my friend is no fan of Ward Churchill, the faux Indian and discredited professor who notoriously called 9/11 victims “little Eichmanns,” he didn’t really mind seeing piles of Churchill’s books prominently displayed on a table as he walked in.

However, it did occur to him that perhaps the long-delayed English translation of Oriana Fallaci’s new book, “The Force of Reason,” might finally be available, and that because Fallaci’s militant stance against Islamic militants offends so many people, a store committed to selling banned books would be the perfect place to buy it. So he asked a clerk if the new Fallaci book was in yet.

“No,” snapped the clerk. “We don’t carry books by fascists.”

Now let’s just savor the absurd details of this for a minute. City Lights has a long and proud history of supporting banned authors – owner Lawrence Ferlinghetti was indicted (and acquitted) for obscenity in 1957 for selling Allen Ginsberg’s “Howl,” and a photo at the bookstore showed Ferlinghetti proudly posing next to a sign reading “banned books.”

Yet his store won’t carry, of all people, Fallaci, who is not only being sued in Italy for insulting religion because of her latest book but continues to fight the good fight against those who think that the appropriate response to offensive books and cartoons is violent riots. It’s particularly repugnant that someone who fought against actual fascism in World War II should be deemed a fascist by a snotty San Francisco clerk…

Strangest of all is the scenario of such a person disliking an author for defending Western civilization against radical Islam – when one of the first things those poor, persecuted Islamists would do, if they ever (Allah forbid) came to power in the United States, is crush suspected homosexuals like him beneath walls.. The store’s website proudly declares that the place is “known for our commitment to freedom of expression”.

Google have just introduced the trial (beta) version of a new facility called Google Pages. It is yet another facility that claims to make it easy to create your own home page without your needing to know any html etc. It appears to be in a very rough state at the moment, however. About all I could find that I could usefully do with it was to upload and store images there. The image above comes down from my site there. I hope they allow a bit of bandwidth or the image will NOT come down. They are very generous with diskspace so I hope the same applies to bandwidth. Yes. I do know about photobucket. I have got my most sickening image stored there. See below:

Should Walmart reduce wages? : “Legislators who take orders (and favors) from Walmart’s rivals hope their meddling will raise Walmart’s labor costs and thus render the company less competitive. But this is a delusion. The whole burden will be borne by workers and by those forced into less-desirable work (or none). Maryland’s mandate does not compel Walmart to spend a dollar more on employee compensation. All it demands is that Walmart pays no more than 92 percent of compensation as wages (or non-health benefits). Compelling Walmart employees to accept a larger fraction of their pay in the form of health insurance rather than cash is a particularly bad deal for housewives and students, who are usually covered under Dad’s family plan. It is also a bad deal for seniors covered by Medicare. The law injures actual and potential Walmart employees in Maryland, particularly housewives, students and seniors seeking relatively easy part-time work.”

There is an interesting site called “Union Facts”. They say that “Union leaders have abused the trust of their members. They’ve misspent member dues and harmed the very same people they promise to protect. The Center for Union Facts has gathered a wealth of information about the size, scope, political activities, and criminal activity of the labor movement in the United States of America”. A fact I particularly liked is this one: “Workers at Walmart stores in Ontario earn higher wages than workers at UFCW-represented Real Canadian Super Stores”

Media scum: “Two years ago, a 23-year-old Paris disc jockey called Sebastien Selam was heading off to work from his parents’ apartment when he was jumped in the parking garage by his Muslim neighbor Adel. Selam’s throat was slit twice, to the point of near-decapitation; his face was ripped off with a fork; and his eyes were gouged out. Adel climbed the stairs of the apartment house dripping blood and yelling, “I have killed my Jew. I will go to heaven.” Is that an gripping story? You’d think so. Particularly when, in the same city, on the same night, a Jewish woman was brutally murdered in the presence of her daughter by another Muslim. You’ve got the making of a mini-trend there, and the media love trends. Yet no major French newspaper carried the story.”

Why Summers fell: “Harvard’s 27th president announced his resignation last week, but Lawrence Summers’s fall from grace actually began on Oct. 26, 2001, less than four months after his presidency began. That was the date on which he addressed the annual public service awards banquest at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and had the temerity to speak favorably of American patriotism – and, even more audaciously, to express admiration for the men and women who serve in the US armed forces. Patriotism is a word “used too infrequently” on campuses like Harvard’s, Summers said, and too many academics regard those who wear the uniform with ”disaffection.” He stressed “the importance of clearly expressing our respect and support for the military,” and pointedly voiced the “hope that when you have this award next year, among those who will be recognized will be those who have served our country in uniform…. [W]e need to remember that of all the kinds of public service, there is a special nobility, a special grace, to those who are prepared to sacrifice their lives for our country.” .. Harvard’s motto is “Veritas,” Latin for “truth.” But at Harvard, as in much of academia, ideology, not truth, is the highest value”

Al Qaeda issues warning to British troops in Iraq

A purported statement from al Qaeda on a radical Islamic web site gives a dire warning to British forces in Iraq.

The warning read (at www.ribaat.org/services/forum/showthread.php?t=29417 and translation by penguino at www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1383919/posts?page=383) Great Britain and its allies will not leave Iraq without punishment. It is right that the criminal pay for that which they have committed like actions against the Muslims before they flee from this Iraqi mess, in order that they become an example for all other countries who are thinking of attacking an Islamic country and an example for all countries who would think of protecting America when she kills Muslims.

The threat also read, Headquarters of the organization of Al Qaeda in the country of the two rivers has decided to carry out some powerful strikes against the British Crusader Forces who have taken position in the south of Iraq, until Northern Iraq and the South become their hell and become a cemetery for all colonizing Crusaders who oppress on the soil of the Islamic nation. And we threaten each collaborator and every spy to bring protection to serve as a human shield to the British Forces located in Iraq.

It continued, To you collaborators and spies working for the British Forces in Iraq, stop and announce your repentance in front of Allah and the incorruptible your free Mujahideen brothers. Know that at this moment, the noble and free Mujahideen, will not have any pity for any collaborator or spy who works with the British Crusader forces when they strike the latter. We are waiting for the collaborators and spies helping the British Forces to repent before our supporters launch their powerful attacks against the British forces. Death comes for you.

Another statement on the same radical Islamic site (www.ribaat.org/services/forum/showthread.php?t=29413 and also translated by penguinoat www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1383919/posts?page=383) claimed victory in a recent battle near the Iraqi town of Qaim along the Syrian border.

It read, This tactical operation is without precedent on the Crusaders in the country of the two rivers. Modern weapons and booby trapped cars were used in this battle, just like an attack of missiles destroying the seats of the Crusader’s base which they found in the old Iraqi customs buildings, just like the building where they found their engineers and their specialists, killing a large number of Crusader soldiers, and some helicopters were seen several times transporting dead Crusaders at the time of the battle. Afterwards, the Mujahideen returned to their bases in peace without having lost even one casualty. Allah Akbar.

However, an Associated Press/London Free Press report (www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/LondonFreePress/News/2005/04/13/994290-sun.html) read in part, American troops battled arms smugglers and fighters near the Iraqi town of Qaim along the Syrian border yesterday, killing an unknown number of foreign insurgents, the U.S. military said. The local hospital reported at least nine people killed in clashes in the same area . Insurgents opened fire when the U.S. troops began their raid on (a) smuggling ring, and several militants, including at least one suicide bomber, were killed, the U.S. military said. No Americans were injured.

Links providing purported video footage of the operation were provided on the same radical Islamic site. They were: , , and .

Meanwhile, Internet Haganah’s Aaron Weisburd noticed (www.haganah.us/haganah/internet.html) that the individuals who frequent ribaat (www.ribaat.org/services/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29297) have also noticed a new service “ Google video.

What is Google video? A company explanation read in part.(https://upload.video.google.com/video_faq.html#overview2).

Our mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Currently, Google Video lets you search a growing archive of televised content – everything from sports events to dinosaur documentaries to news programs. In addition to televised content, we’re now accepting video from anyone who wants to upload content to us. Uploaded content will not be immediately available to users searching Google Video as this is just the submission stage of the program. But (if you’ll pardon the pun) stay tuned.

The upload program lets you submit videos electronically to Google Video, as long as you own the necessary rights (including copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, and any other relevant rights for your content). Just sign up for an account and use our upload tool to send your videos to Google. The program is still in beta so you won’t see your videos live on Google Video immediately.

As Weisburd commented (www.haganah.us/haganah/internet.html), If Google thought selling advertising to Hamas was problematic, just wait till their new beta video library is packed high and tight with jihadi snuff films.

The ribaat site is registered to Abu Malhamat who lists an address in Islamabad, Pakistan. An e-mail to this individual asking for comment on the site was returned as undeliverable.

The site is apparently hosted by Host Rocket Web Services located in upstate New York. An employee at Host Rocket who spoke on condition of anonymity said the site does appear to be located on one of its computer servers and promised an investigation.

The Rogue Jew

It’s About Time – Tort Reform

It’s about time. the unknown secret is that you can’t make a business pay for a lawsuit, especially in the era of liability insurance. All the fees for both sides, the insurance company, and the settlement are all built into the insurance premium the company pays. Through acturial magic, bean counters can estimate how much they will pay out in legal fees for the year and then map that to the fees they charge. Those fees are built into the cost of goods sold by the business, so in the end, the consumer (as always) pays. You tax a business, the consumer pays. You create regulatory costs, the consumer pays. There is only one case the consumer does not pay. When the fire employees to save money to offset.

Billions are bilked from the economy through these bottom-feeder lawsuits (and ironically I’m writing this from a law office), it’s time to put it to an end. There is no justice in making society pay for someone else’s bad actions.
