Tottenham come from behind twice to beat bottom-of-the-table Norwich City as VAR controversially chalks off

Tottenham came from behind twice to earn a point at Norwich but it was VAR that was a major talking point again.

Teemu Pukki saw a brilliant goal chalked off by the finest of margins in the third controversial decision of the day in the Premier League.

The incident packed match at Carrow Road ended 2-2 with the home side looking anything but a bottom-of-the-table side.

Mario Vrancic put Norwich ahead against Tottenham

Norwich went ahead in the 18th minute when Mario Vrancic netted his first top flight goal for the club.

Juan Foyth gave the ball away in a dangerous position and Vrancic was given too much space to shoot from distance and find the net.

Goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga could possibly have done better as the shot was not in the corner and he had a clear sight of the advancing player.

The Canaries thought they had doubled their lead in the 32nd minute but VAR chalked it off by the finest of margins.

Vrancic played the ball into the path of Teemu Pukki, who brought it down and drove home.

Pukki looked to be onside but once the lines had been drawn at Stockley Park it showed the striker’s should slightly ahead.

Jose Mourinho was clearly unhappy with Spurs’ first half performance as he made two changes at half-time.

They seemed to have the desired effect as they got back on level terms nine minutes later.

Christian Eriksen swept in a free-kick from the edge of the box, with the help of a slight deflection, to make it 1-1.

Dele Alli then had the ball in the back of the net in the 57th minute but he was rightly judged to be offside.

Norwich restored their lead in fortuitous circumstances when Toby Alderweireld’s interception was deflected in by Serge Aurier.
