Heavy fog has delayed two Carnival cruise ships arriving back into the Port of Galveston. Also resulting in delayed embarkation for the following departures.
Carnival Dream and Carnival Vista Delay
Weather conditions around Galveston, Texas have not favored two Carnival cruise ships which were expected to arrive in port early this morning. Due to the heavy fog, the Carnival Dream and Carnival Vista have both been forced to stay away off the coast as the port was closed to all marine traffic.
However, in the last few minutes, the Carnival Dream has started to head into the port and expected to be docked at around 2:30 PM local time. The Carnival Vista will head in behind with an expected arrival time of 3:00 PM. You can take a look at some exclusive photos from onboard the Carnival Dream this morning while in the fog:

Passengers coming to the end of their cruise have been kept updated by announcements onboard and have been able to enjoy an extra few hours of their cruise minus the views! Here is the latest update which was posted by Carnival Cruise Line Ambassador John Heald:
Carnival Dream 12/28/19. We are asking guests to disregard their pre-selected Arrival Appointments and make plans to arrive at the cruise terminal between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM (CST).
Carnival Vista 12/28/2019. We are asking guests to disregard their pre-selected Arrival Appointments and make plans to arrive at the cruise terminal between 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM (CST).
Again, many thanks tpo everyone getting on and off the ships for the patience and understanding during these delays. And to the embarkation staff in the terminal and the crew on both ships a big thank you to you for the extra work today
It does mean the following cruises will have a much later embarkation than originally scheduled and those disembarking could be impacted depending on their travel arrangements. Guests on Carnival Dream‘s 5-day departure today are being told to arrive at the terminal between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Guests scheduled to depart today on Carnival Vista’s 7-day Western Caribbean voyage are being told to arrive at the terminal between 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM.
Cruises from Galveston: The Pros and Cons
The 130,000-ton Carnival Dream is ending a 5-day cruise to Mexico and the 133,500-ton Carnival Vista is ending a 7-day western Caribbean cruise. Galveston is known for experiencing dense fog and this will not be the last time cruise ships are delayed due to these conditions.
