Celebrities and politicians, including Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren, are weighing in on Taylor Swift’s public fight with Big Machine Label Group.

On Saturday, Warren commented on the singer’s claims that her former label is blocking her from performing her old hits at the American Music Awards.

“Unfortunately, @TaylorSwift13 is one of many whose work has been threatened by a private equity firm,” Warren tweeted. “They’re gobbling up more and more of our economy, costing jobs and crushing entire industries. It’s time to rein in private equity firms — and I’ve got a plan for that.”

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shared a similar message on Twitter:

“Private equity groups’ predatory practices actively hurt millions of Americans. Their leveraged buyouts have destroyed the lives of retail workers across the country, scrapping 1+ million jobs. Now they’re holding @taylorswift13’s own music hostage,” she tweeted. “They need to be reigned in.”

Developments between Swift and her music industry foes Big Machine Label Group owner Scott Borchetta and music tycoon Scooter Braun escalated Friday.

To recap: Swift took to Twitter on Thursday, claiming she’s being asked to meet an onerous set of conditions if she wants to play a medley of her old hits at the American Music Awards show on Nov. 24, where she’s being presented with the artist of the decade award.

Swift says Borchetta and Braun, who purchased her extensive back catalog in June (to Swift’s loudly expressed shock and horror), are blocking her from performing her old songs on television because “they claim that would be re-recording my music before I’m allowed to next year.”

Big Machine Label Group says it’s not so. In a statement provided to USA TODAY, the label said it was “shocked” to see Swift’s statements “based on false information.”

Later, Swift’s spokesperson, Tree Paine, shared an updated statement with USA TODAY, insisting that Borchetta and Big Machine “flatly denied the request for both American Music Awards and Netflix.”
