Why Queen Elizabeth Will Always Have Meghan Markle’s Back

Meghan Markle recently returned from a royal tour of Africa, along with her husband Prince Harry and their baby son: Archie Harrison. The trip became a way for the Duchess of Sussex to do some important charity work and raise awareness of causes that mean a great deal to her. It also shifts the narrative that has been created about her in the past year.

Duchess Meghan has struggled with negative publicity, and many tabloid reports claiming that she’s difficult or entitled. Still, a recent report reveals that not only does the most important person in the royal family not care about the rumors but also that she’s one hundred percent behind Markle.

When it was first revealed that Prince Harry was dating an American actress, many people were suspicious. The tabloids were quick to question Markle’s motives, claiming that the actress was looking for a way to earn more exposure through her relationship with Prince Harry.

It was undoubtedly a tough time for theSuitsactress, as she had to adjust to a whole new level of public interest. Still, Markle was able to strike up a firm friendship with Prince Harry’s grandmother: Queen Elizabeth.

The queen went out of her way to ensure that Markle felt accepted by inviting to her royal family get-togethers before she and Prince Harry were even married. She also invited Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, to family functions, just to make sure that Markle felt comfortable.

Showing that she cares about Markle’s ability to feel comfortable within the royal family, the queen even set Markle up with a friend — Sophie, the Countess of Wessex — who has a lot in common with Markle.

In the months since Duchess Meghan gave birth to her and Prince Harry’s son, Archie Harrison, the queen has shown even more support for Markle. In fact, for Markle’s birthday this year, Queen Elizabeth held a special celebration for her at her favorite royal residence, Balmoral Estate, in the middle of the beautiful Scottish Highlands.

Meghan Markle has ‘the full support’ of Queen Elizabeth

While at Victoria Yards in Johannesburg this afternoon, The Duchess of Sussex had the opportunity to learn more about the importance of, and how to enable a ‘wellbeing economy’ thanks to Co-Director of the Maker’s Valley Partnership, Simon Sizwe. Simon was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Young African Leaders Initiative programme initiated by President Obama, and he explained that by investing in the overall well-being of a community and its people, and focusing on that economy, you can enrich everyone for a better quality of life. She also met with the owners of Sobae Frozen, an entrepreneurial duo who created their small business as a solution to food waste, creating vegan sorbet from unused fruit from Victoria Yards. At the end of her visit, The Duchess was moved by the original poetry of Belita Andre, the winner of the Poetry Grandslam. In her reading she said: “The Maker’s Valley is a social and enterprise hub, a wave between my corner of the world and yours. Insisting that beyond the anchors of survival. How to make sure that everyone gets to shore, pass around an ocean of stars, not because our sleepless nights are equal but because our dreams are.” • #RoyalVisitSouthAfrica

This year, Markle has received a lot of negative press. From her Wimbledon scandal, where her security team reportedly refused to allow photographs of Markle, to the way she has chosen to keep Archie Harrison out of the spotlight, it seems the duchess just can’t win. However, through it all, the queen has never wavered in her support (or her opinion) of Markle.

According to a recent news story, Queen Elizabeth isn’t phased by the criticism of Markle in the slightest. The article’s sources claim that Queen Elizabeth was impressed from the very beginning by Markle’s work ethic, and that she realizes Markle and Prince Harry have the ability to create more support for the monarchy among young people all over the world. The source also states that the queen has “a great fondness” for the Duchess of Sussex.

This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle at an intimate service officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment. Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie. Their son, Archie, was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years. The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and first worn by her eldest daughter. It was subsequently worn for generations of Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren until 2004, when The Queen commissioned this handmade replica, in order for the fragile historic outfit to be preserved, and for the tradition to continue. Queen Elizabeth is currently hard at work training Kate Middleton, the future queen consort, for the more intensive duties of governing England and has been seen on some solo engagements with Middleton. While she probably won’t be spending as much time with Markle in the months to come as she spends with Middleton, it certainly seems like their sweet relationship is built on a solid foundation.

It looks like, in the years to come, that Queen Elizabeth and Markle will only continue to grow closer together, building on the friendship that they formed years ago.
